This photo is of the Jimirah Beach Hotel, beach and marina in Dubai.  It was taken from the resteraunt at the top of the Burj el Arab where I was treated for my 50th Birthday.  Posh or what  ;D ;) ;D

Hmm i wont let my parents see that photo. They spent their 30th wedding anniverary in Dubai. Been going on about it ever since ::).Didnt do what you did, so they'd be green with envy  ;).

Great photo BTW

PS to all:

I see the ante has been well and truly upped with those edited/enhanced photos. IMO the entries should be unadulterated photographs. Using computer software to enhance then is CHEATING.

OK heres my entry.

Tulip - dont know the variety, been in the garden for years.

Irony is, whilst i now have a new camera with optical zoom etc, this was taken with the old one - I at last got to grips with its macro setting!!

PS the only thing that has been done to this photo is reduce its size - so there!

Er sorry pat - perhaps cheating in your case is too strong a word. I just feel that by adding to or enhancing a photo in that way is not photography and immediately makes a photo altered in such a way look better than those that are not (which in themselves might be brilliant photos).

Plus, some of us arent all that good as some of you at editing photos in that way.

Please dont take offence at my comments, as they are not intended to do so.

I don't think it's cheating...all the photos you see in the media has been altered. I should know, as I used to run a Photo re-touching business, now that's cheating.
Digital photos almost always come out slightly on the dark side, hence why your digi cam comes with editing software.
What is wrong with enhancing a photo if it improves it?
What next....are we all to use the same pixled camera???
Look at the photo, do you like it, then vote for it.

Yeah Heldi it should be for fun....

                              ;D ;D ;D ;D

Heldi

It's just a bit of fun isn't it?

Wow! All the pics are fabulous.  ;D

I'm glad I've evoked a response. As I commented, trying to do something different. . At the end of the day, by digitally changing a picture doesnt automatically make it better. I was trying to create a moorcroft sort of pottery effect and thought no better place to show it than here.
I have added a copy of the image I started with. I thought it was a nice photo, just wanted to have a play.

'sandersj89', I think dan made it clear at the start of the competition, one photo per member could be entered.

Feel free to post more if you wish, but i guess only the first one will be submitted for the vote.

Gosh i certainly opened a can of worms when i 'commented' on editing pictures, didnt I?  :o

How rude of you!  Don't you think that all of the photographs you see in the newspapers, magazines, websites, books, catalogues and even the front of seedpackets have been touched up in some way or other?  In which case you could refuse to buy them for not being honest with their pics.

DD, put your picture back on, the response from EVERYBODY not just ONE PERSON would give you the answer you need to know.

For goodness sake....  ::)
