Does anyone know what is causing this distortion to the leaves on my purple-sprouting?

Looks like bird damage to me, pigeons in particular!

It should sort itself out once the pigeons move on and leave it alone.

Yours looks amazing compared to my purple sprouting this year.  The rabbits and rats got in over winter and quite literally ate mine town to 6 inch stumps.

If you get some good nets on them with some supports you should get plenty of broccoli.  Good Luck!

Mine looks similar, little b******s just sat on the netting and pecked through it.  I have put several short canes sticking out the top now they do not like those.  So broccoli perking up.  Neighbour has used the blue stuff and it looks much better.

Lucky to have florets - we've had nothing at al!!

For the first time in history.

Borlotti

Last year i dug all mine up as they looked so sad. Other people left theirs and they recovered so have left mine this year although i dont hold out much hope, pigeons i think oh well off to morrisons.

I don't mean to gloat, but I cut my first ever PSB yesterday and it was delicious.

The other plants are nowhere near ready yet though, they'll be weeks by the looks of things.

Last year my PSB was glorious and lasted for well over a month ... this year it was absolutely savaged by something despite being netted ... eaten down to the stumps and all the 'bark' taken off what was left - no signs of life in the plants at all.
