Thank you all for your good wishes. I've had a really lovely, if exhausting, 80th birthday.

My daughter-in-law has been spending the week-end with me and took me for a lovely lunch yesterday. This morning we went for a walk along the very breezy beach front after breakfast then spent an hour or so preparing sandwiches for my 'posh' tea party this afternoon. The birthday cake and 'fancy' cakes were catered ( a topic of conversation during the party because there was really nothing 'fancy' about the fancies!) Very disappointing but we all had a good laugh composing a letter of complaint to the caterers. Plenty to eat and drink in great company - youngest 54, oldest 93. My lovely
daughter-in-law did most of the clearing up and drove the 93 year old friend home while the rest of us put our feet up and finished off the bubbly. My best birthday ever - I've been thoroughly spoiled and have loved every minute of it.
