Courgette leaves curling

My courgettes germinated in pots last week.  Now I notice that the seed leaves are curled under round the edges.  The true leaves (or what I can see of them so far) seem to be okay.  Are the curled under seed leaves a problem?  Am I doing something wrong?  They were on my kitchen windowsill until yesterday but have now put them in the greenhouse as I reckoned the windowsill might be a bit warm.

My courgette leaves are curling too - and going a bit brown too. Anyone have any suggestions?
Aubergines are doing well though :)

I believe the seed leaves have served their purpose once the true leaves appear and they naturally die and fall of, so if you have healthy looking true leaves, don't worry.

If your true leaves are curling, then it could be a whole host of things.  Have you overwatered them?  Or underwatered them??  Have they caught a cold, or have they been sunburnt?  Have the slugs been at the stem and caused damage you haven't noticed thus weakening the plant??  As hungry and thirsty as they are, mine are almost underwatered whilst they are in pots, they are now in my unheated greenhouse which is well ventialated during the day, but insulated at night, and they are in the shade.  I also make sure I don't get water on the leaves, unless I am watering early evening when the sun is off the greenhouse.  Hope this ramble helps.  :-\

Hi, thanks for the advice. The brown curling started on the seed leaves but has spread to the new leaves. The plant looks a bit pale too. It's currently in a pot in my loft room - the soil is damp but not waterlogged.

The only thing I can think of is that the temp in the room might dip slightly at night, or they are not getting enough light?

Any suggestions?

Mrs Ava

Too warm in the day maybe, and not enough light.....  however, still plenty of time to sow some more, if you have any left that is..... :-\

Gillian

yes you may be right - I have put some more seeds in and will hopefully have some new plants soon.
Thanks again!

 ???
Have just come home from a weekend away to find that one of the courgettes which had its seed leaves curling under now has a mottled true leaf. Could this be mosaic virus? Does this cause leaves to curl under?  I have separated it from all the others just in case. The true leaves on the others still look fine.

The other possibility is that I am growing Tristar and I know that some of the fruits will be yellow and light green. Should I therefore expect some of the plants to have different colour leaves to the normal dark green?

I am so confused!!
