i know i've read about this here before-but i've searched and i cant find it-so.....
i've just transplanted me lemon cucumbers onto bigger pots-half of them drooped and arenot going to recover-they were a tad leggy..but i swear-gardeners honour!-that i wasnt heavy handed when i moved them-they are still inside on a sunny windowsill......
*sigh*
what did i do wrong please? :(

If you transplanted, then put them back into a very sunny environment.....then you have double stresses - lots of transpiration, before the roots have recovered from their upheaval and relocation = more water exiting than entering = droopy.

Have you tried putting them somewhere cooler & in shade for a while?

kitty

thanks for that gadfium-i thought tey would benefit from the sun..dayam!ta! :(

:) Well done kitty! I have some cues to transplant. You have saved me from making same error. Mine will go on shady shelf in greenhouse.

Still no toms!! But my peas have emerged on the lottie. Yes i know I am late but I did not get lottie till 31March this year so not by choice. Big cheer from me and dog thought I was a bit strange doing a war dance round peas.
Supernan!!

Superman so you think you are late ???
I only got my plot 2 weeks ago and I am only going to be sowing Beans, Peas, Marrows this week
So if you think you are late I have no chance, I will have to see what happens if the weather is kind in the latter months I will be picking at Christmas hehe!!!!!!

Well done with your sprouting peas

Ron
Dont screw up the best things in life cos you dont know who you are, or where you are going !!

kitty

morning sluggy!the inference i get from every one here is that even if you're late-they still grow-a little smaller maybe, but they do grow-
anyway-why are you on line?you have digging to do! ;)

Thats our problem - we too have only recently got our lottie and are way behind with our plans but I spend far too much time here instead of digging!!

I've always found the opposite - my late sown plants always catch up + often exceed the early stuff. Guss they have the benefit of extra warmth, light + care. Either that or it's cos they're not fussed over - they get left to get on with it sometime if I think "oh well, I'm too late with that but I'll chuck it in anyway"...
