Still having potatoes from store... and PSB but the first real cut of asparagus...  :)

gerbera

As a newby-allotmenteer...nowt but rhubarb as yet. But after 3 hours of weeding, I wish I had googled 'nettle recipes' before I headed off to the plot rather than when I got home. ::)

Crystalmoon

;D re the nettle recipes Gerbera, Ive never plucked up the courage to try them but do use nettles to make a stinky 'tea' fertiliser ;)

Today I've had swede, kale & rhubarb. Picked lettuce for tomorrow. xJane

Not a newby but can't manage to produce all year round. despite a lot of trying!  Still just rhubarb for now! and a lot of herbs: mint, parsley, coriander, chives. Lettuces are still tiny and the turnips...welll read my thread about them!  Still, peas are flowering.... and the first spuds are just a couple of weeks away.
AH yes, got the first strawberries! 6 of them  ;D  ;D but delish!
2012 - Snow in February, non-stop rain till July. Blight and rot are rife. Thieving voles cause strife. But first runner beans and lots of greens. Follow an English allotment in urban France: http://roos-and-camembert.blogspot.com

Normylass

Lettuce leaves, raddish, spring onions and rhubarb  ;D

Eamon

Sweetheart cabbage. It was a youngster, but oh so yummo! :D

Aden Roller

Strawberries and they were absolutely lovely.... picked four tubs full.  :)

So completely different from out of season / imported shop bought ones that have little taste. If only Mrs R would stop buying the things and be patient - the wait is worth it.

Next visit to the plot I must take more / larger containers as I left half behind for fear of squashing them. Another trip tomorrow if it doesn't rain too much tonight.

manicscousers

New potatoes, provence salad mix, radish and a gone to seed red onion, followed by rhubarb pie  ;D

shirlton

Made soup today out of frozen and stored veg. Cats protection lady came and relieved me of my surplus of frozen tomatoes and redcurrants. At last I can defrost one of the  freezers
When I get old I don't want people thinking
"What a sweet little old lady"........
                             I want em saying
"Oh Crap! Whats she up to now ?"

Some beetroot, roasted - very tasty. My wife made a courgette, onion and french bean soup from the few I brought back from the lottie. Picked all the cherries today while there were still some left - got about a kilo worth. Snacked on redcurrants but they're  a tad sour. Tried a crystal lemon cuke but wasn't quite ripe. Tried the first peas straight from the pod - very sweet but not enough yet for a meal. Plenty of strawberries but a tad disappointing, think I'll replace them this year.
Location: North East Spain - freezing cold winters, boiling hot summers with a bit of fog in between.

Triamble squash, rhubarb  from the freezer, Sorrel and kale salad, shallotts which we had to pull early as they were in the way.
