Mrs Ava

Now I know my grandad wanders by here as a guest and looks at the photos, and probably reads the posts, so if you are looking at this Taxi, stop reading NOW!

My quandry is this, he is 80 this year and we are all going down to Devon to celebrate with him.  Of course, we want to get him a gift, but what!?!!?!?  I would like something wacky, unusual, daft even, as he is all those things and more.  He has travelled the world thanks to his time in the RAF and he winters in Australia each year.  He is my gardening guru but of course, has everything he could need or use.  So what do we get him?  Bombard me with ideas you clever lot.

Mimi

How about a ballon trip?
Take time to stop and smell the flowers.

A flight in a scary ass jet like an F16 fighter jet.  My son had a trip in one from an RAF base in Notts/Lincs (American air base) and they refuelled in mid air.  He took some pics and will remember it forever  ;D
I came, I saw, I composted

ACE

How about an inflatable doll. :o

kitty

Emma, what about a flight from one of those Spitfires or something similar from DUXFORD you don't live to far from there do you, when we went last year there were peeps on three types of planes it looked brilliant .Just a thought!!. ;D

CotswoldLass

EJ can't offer more exciting suggestions than Duxford, but let us know what happens......?

Mrs Ava

The spitfire was a thought, but as he flew Tempests for a living I didn't know whether a spit would do the trick....but the big modern jet could be the way to go.....

Dunno about the balloon trip Mimi, may have to ask some leading questions and see what he thinks....

Heritage, it would have to look like a young Brigit Bardot, now that would be the gift!  :o ;D

Tis a quandry for sure.  I will keep thinking  and asking and see what we come up with.

Thanks for the ideas folks, gives me something to ponder on.  ;D

Tulipa

We have a friend who has a balloon flight company and he does loads of 80th birthday flights. It's a very popular present.

Anne Robertson

What about adopting an aniamal at a zoo or get a star named for him. Thats something a little different if he's a man with everything. :D
