Hi Sallyp
Ive bought jam jars from these guys before, www.ascott-dairy.co.uk, theyre quite reasonably priced and sell them in various quantities as well.  Hope this helps.
Happy jam making x   :)

Do you belong to any sort of group? My choir is trained to bring me 100s of lidded jars, for example. People hate to throw them away and seem really pleased that they are going to a good home.

You could sneak round the wheely bins just before the council collects them in your area.

Or why not make a notice.

CLEAN USED GLASS
JAM JARS WANTED

Leave it in your front garden with a container to put them in.

People are very 'green' these days so re-using will appeal. DON'T be shy.

I agree with the last couple of posters,I re-use jars given by friends and neighbours and buy new lids from Lakeland

I ran out of jars last year and found it was quite expensive to buy new ones.  I got a tip from another forum.....

.......buy cheapest jars from supermarket (ie value marmalade is 27p at the moment in tesco) and empty the contents and wash then re-use the jars.  I couldn't bear to throw the contents away so i gave it to any friends or family that wanted it.

I found this the cheapest way to get more jars for jam/pickles etc.  Hope this helps

My tip is even cheaper- except I give the odd full jar in return-just ask freinds and neighbours!

Yes, it is amazing what fiends, family and neighbours have tucked away.

Recently purchased some more exotic bottles and jars through these, very helpful and quick. http://colourlights.co.uk/

This looks a good site.
But I too usually save old ones. They do swing top bottles though which are good for things like Sloe Gin (hic!!) and elderflower cordial etc.
worth a look.

This was the best tip ever, and the sauce makes a fab base for curries  ;D plus my friends teenagers absolutely love the sauce with chips they say it tastes like the sauce out of the chinese, so everyone's a winner  ;D ;D ;D
