It is good B but not as good as Upstairs Downstairs  :)

OH has ordered the set from Amazon after it was reviewed as one of the best in 2010. Eldest daughter loves it.

My daughter bought it  for me i haven`t seen it yet, once i am organised & the Christmas decorations packed away i can sit & relax & watch it.
I was away on holiday when it started so missed the 1st 2 episodes.

Carol

I have recorded it because I missed the  episode 3 of the 4 shown.  I did enjoy what I viewed.

I enjoyed the reruns, I had not realised but there were snippets I had missed by only half watching the first time round.

I loved the original series of Upstairs Downstairs but was not as impressed with the new one. Perhaps it was the setting in 1930s. It was the snob factor of the Victorian downstairs which never failed to amuse me.

In those days domestics were little more than slaves really. Yet, the butlers, cooks and housekeepers assumed a superiority over the other servants.

Thankfully, those days are no longer with us and these programmes, along with the occasional Catherine Cookson productions serve to remind . A lot more freedom occurred from the two 20th century wars than we realise.

Duke Ellington

I loved the original Upstairs Downstairs and have enjoyed the new one too. Obviously different but I think it has moved on to the 1930's very well. I love the change in the domestic staff *cook smoking* etc. I think Eileen Atkins is excellent!
I hope they make a series too :)
