Had to give up my gardening round due to health problems and despite applying for lots of jobs had no joy.

I applied for a job with a well know courier last March and have after several months
finally got an interview and  a job offer.

Delivering small packages within a three mile radius of home.Thought at first it was just temp but no it is permanent thank goodness.

I am lucky in so far not had to rely on benefits, great to think I  will be earning again.

Gives hope to us 50 somethings  ;D

Well done you.  What a great Xmas pressie.  A lot of firms are beginning to realize the value of experience and reliability over youth.
So pleased for you.   ;D ;D

A working girl again eh!
When I get old I don't want people thinking
"What a sweet little old lady"........
                             I want em saying
"Oh Crap! Whats she up to now ?"

Thanks everybody....it will seem odd having to discipline myself to work again after all this time.

The only thing I have really had to do is dog walk twice a day, plus a bit of housework if the sun shines on the dust LOL

Will still try to do a bit of voluntary work as I have really enjoyed that,I would recommend it to anybody who has been job seeking long term as it gives you something useful to do and makes you feel you still have something to offer.

Also good to extend your skills and something up to date for your CV.

Thanks again everybody.

How nice, it's hard when you really want to work and nothing comes your way. You'll get lots of fresh air at least! Good luck,

2012 - Snow in February, non-stop rain till July. Blight and rot are rife. Thieving voles cause strife. But first runner beans and lots of greens. Follow an English allotment in urban France: http://roos-and-camembert.blogspot.com

Nice one girl, welcome to the gravy train.    ;D ;D ;D
MAY THE CORN BE WITH YOU.

I hope your new job is not with Hermes.  There was a Newsnight programme about them a couple of weeks back.  There is also this article:
