WOW!

They put on a display over Minehead beach this afternoon and WOW WOW they are spectacular!

The sky was just a brilliant blue with the very red and very very shiny planes whizzing around they were just brilliant!

Many years ago - probably when the red arrows were first putting on displays I saw them at Goodwood race track in Sussex - they were exciting then and they are still cutting the mustard.  The precision and training that must go on to provide these displays is incredible.

Brilliant - and for a freebie - even more brilliant.  Apparently they are going on down to Cornwall for a display this evening!

it's their total professionalism that makes them probably the best display team in the world.  :)
Flighty's plot,  http://flightplot.wordpress.com,  is my blog.

Wednesday 23rd August  in Torquay at 6pm. I'm in Paignton and watch them as they make their turns over the sea and head back along the coast.

[/quote  Do they go MInehead every year?

Old bird

No - unfortunately this is a first!

It was organised by Butlins - bless them!  I will be congratulating them in the local paper and hopefully they may manage to arrange it again.  But I would think that booking them is very difficult as they seem to do 2 displays every day throughout the summer!

We will see.

Hey Crispy where is your allotment then?  How exciting - probably just as well I don't live near you as I wouldn't get any work done!

Living near to Bournemouth airport we get to see them 5-6 times a year as they use it as a base for shows on the IOW and we have an air show here to, flippin noisy when they go over in formation  ;D

Make the most of their displays folks because they are trying to get them grounded for a while to save money!!!  :(

They were at the Farnborough airshow, so only every other year.
My plot is 8 miles away in Guildford, but my plot is high up on a steep slope.... advantage of nice views but the disadvantage is I fall on my arse a lot.

At least you won't get flooded on your plot!

well, the ConDems are cutting everything else, so why should the tax-payer pay for the red arrows, when the troops need more 'real' aircraft?
You couldn't make it up!
