Allotments 4 All

We have two large fields right across the boundary with Italy and a garden.
So far me and my brother are only using one field in Italy,which it is quite
enough for us...as usually we have too much of everything there...but still
wish to plant more interesting plants in the future...

Why is your field in Italy, is it cheaper land, or just that it was available at the time? Or are you an fan of Italy?  :)

Hello dear!!We had a thunderstorm yesterday and a big branch,full of
lovely young plums,fell down in a strong wind...otherwise here can be
pretty hot,we couldn't even sleep at nights...

Oh dear,thats a long story...there was a part of Slovenia long time ago,but
after a second world war, the land became italian property,lots of slovene
people have their land in Italy tough...

oh so have you had the land a long time? That sounds nice.

Sorry to hear about the plums - unless they were ripe of course in which case it would be a gift!  ;D

Yes,the land in Italy is in family already for a long time,me and my brother
inherited it from my father,who died two years ago,so thats our second
year on the field...
Plums are not ripe yet,so its a pity,I just hope the rest of a tree will survive
and give us some ripe plums,I like them very much...

I'm sure your father would be very happy you are both continuing to work the land.
In Wales it has been raining a lot recently and not much sunshine. So I think quite different growing conditions from you,  what type crops suit you best?

Actually noone work on that land for years,my parents were both very
ill,my brother is not right healthy either,so I mostly took care of them and
only managed to work on the garden which is by the house.
Well,both parents died two years ago,one after the other and we started
to use the land,I guess to soothe a big pain at the loose...
We are still searching on good plants which should grow well in our poor
conditions-pretty windy and without water sources...we built some raised
beds and grow salad and spinach there,its amazing...cucumbers got their
places in shade of vines,they are producing like mad too...there are lots of
tomatoes everywhere,cabbage,beetroots,peppers,potatoes...more than
enough for us two...
Unfortunatelly my two sons are not into growing anything,they became
usuall bussines men with no time at all,they don't know what they are
missing,maybe it'll come with years...

Sorry to hear you lost both parents. It's important to feel you're continuing something from your parents' lives, when you lose them. I carried on researching my dad's family tree after he died, because he had been doing it himself. I hope your gardening has helped you.

It's hard growing without irrigation/water for crops, and with strong winds. I have access to water, but it's windy here by the sea as well.

But looking at the list of things you grow - I can't see what you're missing! Is there anything you wish you could grow but haven't been able to?

How interesting,actually I wanted to start researching for a family tree too,
but in fact all my relatives I know,are dead,so it'll be a bit hard to start...
Oh,there are plenty of things I would like to grow,but just a little time...
I am the only person who pays the bills,so I need to work and earn money..
I just got some interesting corn seeds in a swap for next year,hardly waiting
to plant them and see them growing...
There's always something interesting I can read about and would like to try...
