If you go to your profile you can remove your telephone number. Also you can change who can view your details. I have never put any personal details on there and only friends can view my page. Hope this helps.

yes, I have done that, it's just, as my friends have suggested friends, I now have some people who I don't know..if I go into edit friends, quite a few friends'  phone numbers come up, apparently it's only just been done, I've changed mine to only me, now

BarriedaleNick

Facebook doesnt publish your numbers to friends - you do!
It's up to you what details you enter about yourself and what details you publish and to who. Dont put your phone numbers on facebook!

One of the best tools is the "Preview my profile" button that is on the privacy options pages...Shows what you look like to the rest of the world.
Moved to Portugal - ain't going back!

Think thats the best idea. I never post any personal details on web sites cos you never really know who people are. You just can't be too carefull these days unfortunately.

I am in Facebook, it is a good way to keep in touch with my Nieces.   However, what I do not understand is why do people who live in the same village as you want to be your 'friend'  when they don't even say  'hello' if you see them on the street  I do enjoy the games though,   Bricks breaking and bouncing balls.   ;D ;D

Its a Social network site bit like Friends Re United but Modern version so you can upload photos and people who you have avoided for years can contact you....

Jeannine. It's a good tool to keep in touch if you have friends or family abroad. I only joined when my dearest friend went to live in Portugal so we can chat on line. Just think you chat to all your A4A friends

I didn't even think of giving them our telephone number and I have hidden the email address. I use it mostly to play games like my winter farm when its too cold to get to the plot. Suppose I could live without it
When I get old I don't want people thinking
"What a sweet little old lady"........
                             I want em saying
"Oh Crap! Whats she up to now ?"

I use it to keep in touch with all my canadian family, just seen the latest wedding photos, baby pics and holiday snaps, also means I can keep in touch with Brighton and instantly see photos of my lovely grand daughter, don't know why I put my phone number on, mine is now hidden  :)

I have been on Facebook for about 1 year and a half.  I used to have tens of "friends", including work "mates", until I found out most of them were taking the p** because of my way of living.  Needless to say, I now can count on one hand the number of true friends I have, and these are mostly family.  I still think it's an unhealthy place and do not go there very often..... ??? :-[

I do so agree with Marion, I have some good friends Who I telephone, write to or email. An acquaintance added me as a friend on face book, I became a friend of about 100 people none of whom I knew. I work for a big company and most of the younger ones, although they see each other every day still gossip on facebook. Mostly not very nice gossip. I have had nothing more to do with this site. The one thing that I do miss is a good game of scrabble, you can go in and log on to scrabble and you could play with anyone anywhere in the world. I love scrabble.

You choose your friends and your profile on facebook, much like life really, in that you can share as much or as little as you wish.  People who mock it tend not to be using it sensibly in my experience.

If someone asks you to be 'a friend' you don't have to say yes but if you do, it can open up a whole new world and if that doesn't suit, it's easy to drop individuals too.

What's not to like?

I joined facebook about a year ago and have got back in touch with so many old friends and work colleagues. It's what you make it .In any situation there would be people who would annoy you  just PRESS the button they're gone !!if only real life was that simple.
I wonder how many people pressed the button on me  :-[

I`d never heard of Facebook until about 18 months ago, when I started getting lots of emails from the site informing me that someone I had never heard of wanted to be my "Friend".  Following the links I then found my was to Facebook and found that someone had created a Profile, or page, or whatever, in my name, but as I had no idea whatever what the password was I never actually managed to see it.  I had the devil`s own job getting it removed, and I`ll certainly never go there again.

My Grandson asked me to join FB. As I have a very large family it is great to keep in touch. I must admit I have blocked a couple of family members because I didn't like their postings. On the other hand I have viewed some wonderful animal photos posted by my nephew who lives in S Africa (who I met for the first time in nearly forty years at my brothers funeral last week) and the news and photos of my two great nephews and their families in Australia are brilliant. I only have a few friends on FB (AH!!)
