I've just picked: asparagus (lots), the first baby carrots, radishes, a baby cauliflower, some red spring onions (over-wintered), a couple of lettuce and my first head of garlic. Plus rhubarb picked yesterday.

But my birthday meal is incomplete: no potatoes!!!! For the first time since I've been gardening - and probably in my entire life - I haven't been able to lift any. Serves me right for boasting on the Potato Challenge thread a few months back!

No broad beans yet, either.

Sparkly

Not that much stuff ready on our plot yet, but yesterday we did have red onions and lettuce in our salad. Today we are having mashed potatoes, broad beans and runner beans frozen from last years crop. I have just done a freezer audit to try and ensure we finish off the stuff in the freezer so have some room when the crops arrive. I thought we had eaten allthe broad beans - no there are 13 x 3 portion bags! Same with the carrots - no 6 x 3 portion bags. I have also totally forgot about the huge box of plums and huge box of blackberries I froze to make jam!

grannyjanny

Found the last few raspberries at the back of the freezer.

Had the first of our sugar snaps over the weekend - they were fantastic. Will definitely do them again next year.

Broad beans and lettuce the only other things ready. Rhubarb has, I think, suffered from the drought

I just pull some off and chop them smaller and slightly cook them..like kale..or cabbage..or to spice up salads you can eat it raw too.. ;)..in sandwich..etc..

The rest of my challenge spuds, first pick of broadies, a little bit of calabrese that had decided to run to seed ( ???) and a few - very few - peas. Lovely!

Just had my first of this season - Had a small firkle and nicked some baby spuds and I thinned out some baby turnip  :) Used them in a veg soup that my wife had made.

4 weeks time I will be in full flow.
