TimJ Been to stoney cove many times, great fun diving the various things in there.

AndyH,

We spent a summer evening a few years back enjoying a few beers at the Cove, watching them sink a boat for the divers to explore. Apparently there are planes and allsorts down there?

Wheatfields one side, Luton airport on the other, very peaceful though maybe it's just that I was in the RAF for 5 years and don't notice the noise

My plot is in Oxford, by the JR hospital  :)
Lottie-less until I can afford a house with it's own garden.

Started on my new allotment last weekend (brrrr... freezing!!) Chuchmanor Way, in Greenwich, SE London.

Large site. Soil good (except for 1 type of weed), lots of free manure, water standpipes etc. My dad currently buying lots of seeds for me (unsolicited) and sowing in his greenhouse in Cambridge - just wish he was as enthusiastic when it comes to visiting me with fork and hoe...  ;D

Hi all,

Just joined this group this week, its really great, lots of sound advice and information.  I have an allotment in Dundee, which i acquired on Monday, I'm cleaning it out of old produce at the moment and the soil has been well cared for and nurtured. The plot came with a 17ft x 6ft x 7ft (aged) green house with a homemade "conservatory" attached, so I'm well pleased. The Lottie, which covers an area of 174.5 square metres, is just a short distance from my home

Bun & Frannie,  I too lived in Harlow for twenty years, but decided it was time to come home to Dundee. I left Harlow in 2002. I feel somewhat liberated here, easy access to countryside and beaches - No M11, M25, traffic jams  ;D
Here are some pics of my allotment  & others!!!

Hi Sky Pilot, where abouts did you live??

Rowan

Hi, everyone, great site!  :)

I'm in Suffolk, near the coast (hello to the people in Ipswich!). We're lucky enough to live in a village, with the allotment field literally at the bottom of the garden! We have two, at the moment, though if we ever get round to making our greenhouse/polytunnel (out of old plastic green house frames and some new plastic), we might need more space.

Basically, the allotments have been carved out of a field and there's still some of the field left. As ours are the last ones on one side, we can spread if we want to, though the clearing process is quite hard work. I spent most of last Jan and Feb hacking down brambles to make the second one.

I too have joined within the last week and collected the keys to my allotment last Monday. Its a great site with shed loads of advice, theres so much knowledge between the users and they are not shy about giving advice which is invaluable to a newbie like me. My plot is in Doncaster about 10 mins from my house. Its still in the planning stage at the mo but ive got a good idea about what i want to do with it. The committee have a 2/3rds to growing produce rule so i thought about a 3rd to some raised beds, a 3rd to soft fruit and the other 3rd to some happy chickens.

Great site keep it up.  :)

Where's mi plot? 7miles out of Antwerp on the road past Churchill docks. Turn right onto the cobble road and do a left before you drop into the lake. Miss all the ducks, swans, coots and water hens and I'm the right at the top. (The one with the Union Flag flying.)

Both of my children were born there! (The John Radcliffe, not your allotment...)

My plot is in Wiveliscombe (12 miles or so west of Taunton) next to the Rugby pitch at Plain Pond.  I find that the ladies Rugby team use worse language than the men....

MaidstoneMark

I'm off to pick my plot on Sunday (yep; they've got so much space I get to pick one; I can choose overgrown, very overgrown, wild or positively Amazon-stlye!!!!)

It's Glebe Lane on Farleigh Lane, in Barming, Maidstone - I can't wait, I've checked out some aerial pics of the site, and it's a triangular site surrounded on all sides by nice houses, so hopefully it's well protected.  Overlooks the Medway valley which is a lovely stretch of coutnryisde so there will be plenty of lovely fresh air.

*so excited*

Anyone else growing in Maidstone or Kent?
Plant & it will grow! (Apparently)
