Most of the time when I see the term devout Christian it equates to fundementalist when applied to other religions.  Like all fundamentalists, it is typical behaviour as only they are right and religious teaching for that lot says kill the heretics. The Jews kill  non Jews, Christians kill non Christians, Muslims kill......
