I have just received this email from a friend and thought I would pass it on to you all.

Warning..!!!!
Just last weekend on Friday night we parked in a public car park. As we drove away I noticed a sticker on the rear window of the car. When I took it off after I got home, it was a receipt for petrol. Luckily my friend told me not to stop as it could be someone waiting for me to get out of the car. Then we received this email yesterday.

WARNING FROM POLICE
THIS APPLIES TO BOTH WOMEN AND MEN
BEWARE OF PAPER ON THE BACK WINDOW OF YOUR VEHICLE--
NEW WAY TO DO CAR JACKINGS (NOT A JOKE)'

Heads up everyone! Please, keep this circulating.. You walk across the car park, unlock your car and get inside. You start the engine put it into Reverse. When you look into the rear view mirror to back out of your space, you notice a piece of paper stuck to the middle of the rear window.

So, you stop and jump out of your car to remove that paper (or whatever it is) that is obstructing your view.  When you reach the back of your car, that is when the car jackers appear out of nowhere, jump into your car and take off. They practically run you over as they speed off in your car.

And guess what, ladies? I bet your purse is still in the car.  So now the car jacker has your car, your home address, yourmoney, and your keys. Your home and your whole identity arenow compromised!

BEWARE OF THIS NEW SCHEME THAT IS NOW BEING USED.

If you see a piece of paper stuck to your back window, lock your doors and just drive away.  Remove the paper later. And be thankful that you read this e-mail. I hope you will forward this to friends and family, especially to women.

A purse contains all kinds of personal information and identification documents, and you certainly do NOT want this to fall into the wrong hands.

Please tell all your friends.

Whatever are they going to get up to next!!

and NEVER set your sat-nav to your home address, or the thieves will also know where you live!! better to set sat-nav to end of road, local police station, roundabout, etc!!

I would also say it is N American because of the use of the word purse and not handbag - but it still pays to be careful anyway  :)

And never put your hand bag on the passenger seat especially if you have central locking or the windows are open.

You have to stop at a zebra crossing or traffic lights. The passenger door is opened or a hand comes through the window and you loose your bag. The hoody push bike rider has gone before you get your thoughts together.

If you use central locking when you open the boot to put in shopping and then take back the trolley, or even whilst you are loading the car some one may sneak into the back of the car and lay down, where they can stay hidden until you are in a remote road driving home. Open the boot with the key so that the doors stay shut & if you have to use central locking, lock up again before you take back your trolley.

Never leave a child in the car and the key in the ignition even for a brief moment, (just to post a letter).  A thief may not notice them when they nip in to drive off your car.

Watch out for some one telling you that your car has been leaking oil or other fluid when you return to it. It is easy to put a puddle of fluid under a car and convince a motorist that their car is faulty and then offer to help them.  (a scam often used abroad) The stranger to the area with the leak is grateful that the kindly local directs them to a garage or workshop and will leave their car, keys and luggage whilst the repair is carried out.

Thank them and tell them that you well call for your 'breakdown assistance'. Even if you do not have any. Than chance loosing everything.

I am addicted to those TV programmes that tell about scams and trust no one.
