Allotments 4 All

Hello :)

I'm new to this allotment game so please be patient with me!  I've been given some 7 year old mushroom compost that a garden centre has had stood in the open.  Having bagged it up and got it to the plot I notice that it seems inert - no weeds growing in it, on it and no insects or worms in it.  Is this normal and is it safe to use?

Sounds fine stuff to me .Only thing to watch out with when using spent mushroom compost is that it contains lime so dont put it near lime hating plants  as in azaleas etc .Otherwise it sounds very good stuff for lotty..cheers ..Jim.

But it's great for your brassicas.

Doubt there would be much residual lime after 7 years?

And any pesticide should be nicely deceased? = Tim
