Hi ya all
Can anyone tell me if I have messed up my first try at onions from seed ???
Have germinated some mammoth onions and they have all come through but I read somewhere from someone who shows that seedlings stand to attention.

Mine don't.....they sort of flop around....
They are alive, nice and green but look a bit lazy or like me after a few wines...

Anyone any suggestions pleeeeeeeaaaaase
I have just transplanted them to try and support them a bit, don't know if that was right or wrong thing to do... they still look a little p***ed ::)

Eee Eee :-/

ummm...could it be that they have been grown where there isn't optimum light so they have grown leggy?  Or forced to grow to quickly in heat?  I have some ornamental aliums I have grown from seed and they are like a mass of cocktail sticks all sharply standing to attention.  Somewhere out there is a seed growing onion expert who will tell you for sure.

same has happened to my seedlings that are inside at the moment (not onions- but lavender and rosemary)- they were doing fine but most have now flopped over. Is this due to the low light and warm house?

- can't tell from the description, but onions do come up like a question mark, and take a while to straighten. Or so I recall. = Tim

thanks people...it could be because they were on a windowsill with the radiator below it......

I am going to see how they go but am starting a new lot
