I  thought the mackerel and rhubarb, in particular, was fingerlickingly good! There is a simple conceptual elegance about his cooking which, in my view, sits well with both the man and his writing.

I've just had a bowl of his green thai curry. Oh wow!!! Sooooooo good!

Lol, that really made me laugh Angle,talk about  being influended ;D
Puts me in mind of watching Bonnie and Clyde as a very young teenager then having to go out and buy the reddest lipstick that i  could find and a packet of fags....lol

I absolutely love his style of cooking with exception to the use of cream.Everything else was wonderful :)

The sausage pasta with mustard looked good but I would just use wholegrain mustard so that it wasn't too hot. I would also make my own sausage meat.
When I get old I don't want people thinking

I'm sure that was a Katie Stewart recipe back in the seventies - lived on mackerel as a student - even the smoked was 12p a lb.

Watched a bit more and think I was overly harsh earlier on.  I can hardly complain about Masterchef being all shouting and fast edits and then slate Mr Slater for being the opposite!

He did come across as a little creepy but I'm not sure why exactly. I have a couple of his books which I like but he seems to use a lot of cream in the recipes I have seen in this programme. Quite a bit of his stuff would not be classed as 'dinner' by my picky crowd.  I did notice that with the allotment soup all people ate was bread and juice and didnt touch the rather enormous swiss chard leaves which were floating in it.
