I've just got my allotment!!!

I had to leave my old one behind when we moved to Hastings, and after being on the waiting list for almost a year, I've been offered one - and it's grassed over but that's all, so I'm really excited.

Everyone thinks I must be mad, because I've moved house, had a baby and got a 2-year-old and a full-time job. So I thought about turning the allotment down - but of course I didn't!

I know you lot will understand why.

Well, we went on a wait list in March, were 8th on the list, and were lucky enough last night to be able to go get the key to the gate, and be assigned our allotment :)  I'm really pleased - heading down there in a little while to do some digging over, taking a picnic dinner, a bottle of wine and some chairs.  No sheds allowed on the site so as to keep the area 'green' looking.
Our site is in Meopham, Kent.  It's a lovely looking site - some very very well kept allotments there!

Small site in Basingstoke within walking distance of home (5mins). Got the key in Oct08 after a three year wait and both spends ages down there. Highlight was walking down on Christmas Day to pick Brussels (rubbish crop but we had enough), dig up the last few carrots, a swede  and a parsnip. We then had our on potatoes roasted with some of the broad beans from the freezer.

Both spend far too long down there but love it

You're just up the road from us - we're next to the railway line in Winchester - if you look up the plot we're next to the pink shed  :) :) :) :)

I'm just across the thames at Canewdon in Essex.

Put my name down in May, got my plot 3 weeks ago, covered in 3ft weeds. have now got it cleared with potatoes, tomatoes, onions, beans, garlic and salad leaves. Had been growing from seed but when plot came up early i did cheat and by a couple of plants from a garden centre to get it started.

Looking forward to when i can start picking fresh produce.

The handle on your recliner does not qualify as an exercise machine.
