If it was me I would wait till spring, they may root for you now, but its keeping them over winter thats the problem.

Be patient Sinbad........are you still a non smoker.......wrong thread , but are ya??
I was born with nothing and have most of it left.

Thanks Star, I'll have a go now, whilst I can see the colours I like.  Spring seems a long, long way away.

Patience what's that??:)

Yep still smoke free, but having a battle with my sweet tooth  :'(  :'(

August is the best month to take geranium cuttings, we used to do about 300 to sell . We uesd any unflowered growth and put up to 15 cuttings in a 5 inch half pot. Using general purpose compost with a good half inch of grit sand on the top. We trimmed the cuttings as we took them and once in the pot gave a good drink with a rose on the can. Put them on a shelve in the greenhouse and forget them. If you can just keep the worst frost out they will only need checking about once a month and very little water. The drier they are the colder they can be, we potted them up end of March and sold many for Marie Curie in May.
