I would take lots of photos, find out where they have moved and flypost the area. And call their local paper, they usually love things like this.

And they might just settle up if you turn up on their doorstep telling them what you are about to do!

Mr Smith

We had one  house moving contractor in our next of the woods(man&van) who's favorite trick was to up the anti of the removal when he was half way through the removal, the favorite trick was trying it on with single young women, needless to say I have not seen his adverts for ages after he was reported,

So glad to hear that there finally settling in it will feel like home in no time at all.

We were very lucky when we moved into our first home all went to plan and we had been left a bottle of wine and a welcome to your new home card. Which was lovely just a pity the roof collapsed a few weeks later and we discovered we had wet rot throughout the downstairs!! All sorted now though  ;D

Maybe they were repossessed and couldn't be bothered to clear up properly, a sort of protest!

Was the house bought at auction? If so, then this maybe a repossession, not nice.

So glad they have decided to move on. No good will come of chasing these people, it would be just a waste of energy. I wish them every happiness in their new home. :)
Smile, it confuses people.

Hi dtw:  no, it wasn't a re-possession but a normal sale through estate agents - the vendor was a retired professor moving to West Wales to live with his lady friend (who he had met through an internet chat room) in her house.
I do like the idea of a solicitor retaining part of the purchase price to ensure all items are removed.
I found another 'gem' in the garden yesterday afternoon when I was digging out perennial weeds and nettles, lots of very large hardy cyclamen corms with buds just forming and these are going to look so pretty in a few weeks time.

The joys of moving - We moved into a house in the early 90's and discovered it in a complete tip. In addition to the usual grime and rubbish a used condom was on the bedroom floor and a rather well used porn mag on top of a kitchen cupboard.

Well - we thought the house moving woes were a thing of the past - but they have returned!
My son took over the telephone line and number of the vendor - and about a week before the completion date, the vendor phoned his telephone provider (with my son present) and it was all agreed;  the phone company sent a contract to the vendor who completed his part and sent it on to my son who completed his part and returned it to the phone company, and set up a direct debit.
About 10 days ago my son found he had no connection and thinking it was a line fault contacted the company and was told the line had been cut off because of an unpaid bill.   He had a long conversation with the company and it seems the vendor hadn't paid his last bill, so they cut my son off and until it was paid he couldn't be reconnected.  My son asked how much the bill was for - thinking if it wasn't much he'd pay it to save the hassle but he couldn't be told as this was 'customer confidential'.  My son phoned the vendor and explained the situation but he said wasn't going to pay, the phone company didn't have his new address so they couldn't get the money from him!   My son made many more long calls to the phone company, always someone was going to phone back but they didn't until yesterday - and he was then told that even if the bill was paid, he would have to pay a reconnection charge and would have to have a new number (and this was the case right from when the phone was cut off).

My son is now faced with having to arrange a new telephone service and having a new number - and sending out new number information to very many people .

So beware, if you move house and take over the vendor's line and number and they don't pay their bill - you could be faced with problems!

What a bloomin nuisance. Lets hope that this is the end of all their woes eh!
When I get old I don't want people thinking
"What a sweet little old lady"........
                             I want em saying
"Oh Crap! Whats she up to now ?"
