TOMATO PROGRESS 2009

It's weird; although my tomato plants were pretty late in being planted into their final positions, and were nearly all flowering when they were, 'Sweet Olive' is usually the first to fruit and ripen, but this year althought it had fruit first, 'Thai Pink Egg' looks as though it will win the race this year! Also doing well, HSL 'Orange Heart', 'Orange Banana' and 'Legend' have started to change colour slightly.... ;D

I'm trying something different this year, no sideshoots or leaves below the first truss, then letting them go, tying in the sideshoots as they grow. We shall see if I get a bigger yield this way!
If it's not pouring with rain, I'm either in the garden or at the lottie! Probably still there in the rain as well TBH....🥴

Intresting Deb, i think you may get a bigger crop quantity wise, but i wonder if you will be down on size and wieght, wonder if this will affect the size of the seeds
Regardless, hope it works the way you want it

We had the first of the season yesterday-`Matina`- a standard red with a decent flavour-nothing too complicated and fairly low in acid.

Well done TonyBloke,
Mine are not there yet, but I am sure the little green ones will go red in time. Me thinks I put them out to late.

Got them back now to put some tread on them

Davy, I'm eager to hear about your Russian toms. I'm trying Anna Russian and Black Krim for the first time. Anna is heart shaped with a definite point on the end and very flimsy looking plants though the tomatoes look like they'll be a hefty size. The Black Krim are just beginning to turn darkish orange but the shoulder is dark green still and cracked- I was wondering what color they should be to pick??

(A ground hog gnawed away half of a ripe-ish one last night  >:(   )

Congrats, Tonybloke- you swept them clean, didn't you!
