hi i am lokking for some information about a eucalyptus tree in my garden. the tree is about twenty foot high and is planted in the ground. it has been in the garden for seven years and has always been fine. but since april all the leaves have turned brown. i am wondering if it is dead.

If a lot of leaves turn brown at the same time it often means the eucalyptus is short of water.

i would have thought they would be able to handle a little drought, maybe its diseased ???

Barnowl

Leaves turning brown is a stress reaction of some kind - lack of water seems the most likely culprit. Check to see whether any small new green leaves are beginning to appear.

We lose some every year.

As to water, surely they grow in deserty regions?

Barnowl

Yes but they shed their leaves pretty regularly -faster if short if water, or they catch fire, which comes to much the same thing  :)
