One of my comfrey plants has keeled over a bit and the leaves have an orange rust on the underside. Should I not use this plant? The others are ok -so far.

Immediately after flowering you should always cut down the plants to get them to regrow. This gives you more to add to the compost or feed barrel and the bees love it too.
I always cut them down to the ground so as it allows me to gain more cuttings for others.
Its the same with other plants, cut them back and you get a second flush of growth.

Got them back now to put some tread on them
