Nope. My cars are a 1969 and a 1967...tax free and a better approach to recycling than the governments offer. People should be encouraged touse what they have for loner (sustainability) as opposed to the car manufactuers approach to selling folks cars with gadgets they dont need.

Good heavens Jackie, your cars are as old as our marriage & our eldest daughter. Well done. Hope they've brought you as much happiness & memories.

Hector

I love them to bits...and my kids love them. One day hopefullly, they will have one of them each

It`s just a con.  From the Chancellor`s point of view the VAT he gets on the new car is probably well in excess of the £1000 he`s putting up - and he also charges a nice new juicy first registration fee, so he`s quids in.

From the Dealer`s point of view he`d probably have given you discount of more that £1000 just to get a sale, so he`s happy.

The only loser is the muggins who`s just been conned into buying a new car that he probably doesn`t need, doesn`t really want and probably realises now he couldn`t really afford.

Have you read in the press that this has been, allegedly, so successful that cash runs out by August!

Most people could negotiate a decent deal as things were in the current climate.

In fact this has rather spoilt things.

However, people who drive 10 year old cars are not in the market for new ones so it was rather a load of eye wash as an offer.

Only two car families where they had one and an old spare could do it.

My mate did well, he had a 4 year old car at the time he bought it he said it was too good to get muddy at the lottie so got a banger too. The 4 year old was ready to change and the banger blowing out black exhaust so he sold the banger for a new one and the 4 year old was eagerly purchased by another plot holder because it had been well looked after.

Like all these deals. You have to make them work for you. Oportunity strikes..Take it.

Two people I know (including my dad) have gone for it, but Idon't think either of them are very "savvy" in these matters so probably could have got just as good a deal by shopping around. And both have had to wait longer than they were originally told to get their cars- I would have expected the dealers to have them stocked up and ready to go!

Mr Smith

Take it from me car dealers don't lose out on any kind of deal this £2000 is just another way to get them into the showroom, ;)
