had some melons given off an A4A member,

thinking of growing them in a greenhouse with cucumbers,

will they grow happly together?,

do they grow in the same conditions?

how many in a 8ft x 6ft greenhouse? ???

ours did, last year, haven't had time to plant melons this year  ;D

The answer is yes they will grow together.

Although I am not planning to this year this is the layout I use in my 8x6 when growing them; eight up either side and two at the top!

This is the spot I have alloted this year i.e. opposite the climbing beans;

I grew them 18" apart, pretty similiar to grow. When planting out in final position keep the stem a bit higher to prevent stem rot. Melons nip out the growing tip when you have 2 or 3 fruit. I'm sure they'll grow happy up there.

I am planning a go at growing melons for the first time this year and was surprised to see the above as I thought I had to build a low long tunnel affair for them. Do you have to grow them up poles like beans then?
