My wonderful OH is going to design & build me a potting bench. Any tips please. Our site manager has negotiated a 40% discount at a local timber merchant so last week he made 2 huge compost bins for the princely sum of £38. BTW we couldn't find any decent pallets & he wanted to get on with it. We saw some 1/2 price ones in B&Q yesterday £50 each so he feels very pleased.

We picked up a single slatted bed frame that we plan to put legs on for our potting bench, will staple some netting underneath to catch the little potting modules. :)

My potting bench is an old computer desk.  I am tempted just to buy one of the fold up plastic tables when it goes the journey  8) 8).

I would love one of them but have no room to put it
When I get old I don't want people thinking
"What a sweet little old lady"........
                             I want em saying
"Oh Crap! Whats she up to now ?"

That looks really smart doesn't it - makes my back steps (where I do my potting on) look positively basic  ;D  ;D

Lovely bench, Misfit! There is a crate of beer in my shed with your name on it :D
Not sure what the 'hardware cloth' is for though?

My bench was made by the previous tenant out of skip materials. It scrubbed up rather nicely!

Potting bench is made. I went to help put the 2 sides together & next time I looked the top was on. It's made from rough sawn wood.  Do you think it should be stained or left as it is.

Me, I'd give it a rough sanding to take care of splinters, and then leave it as it is. Or else paint it a bonny colour.  :D

It's sanded & as we speak being painted forest green, as we have some in the shed. It looks wonderful. I shall have to do a special tea tonight. When I learn how to do pictures I will post one of it.

i printed this off for my husband as "he said" when my new greenhouse goes up he would make me a new potting bench, ;D as i was going to buy one of the metal type from "Argos" £25
My greenhouse is in the final stages off completion so i thought how timely, :)
I am afraid i cannot put exactly what he said as this is a family site   ::) :o

Sounds lovely.  I use my garden wall outside the conservatory as my potting bench. It's a perfect height for standing at.  Great on days like this (daughter and I have been out there for quite some time today), not so good when it's raining.
