Not allotment chat, that's why it's in here...but I've got a stack of 'History on People' arriving shortly and wondered if anyone has a gap in their ancestorial past they might plague me with.
I'll get my head round it as soon as I can, and who knows, maybe Dan has a skeleton at the bottom of his plot!!

I don`t suppose it`s of any help to you Kenkew but I have all available census data for Gloucestershire  :)

For anyone who may be interested I am always happy to do census look ups for Gloucestershire  ;D

That's a great addition, Sue. Maybe between all the lottie people on here we could solve a riddle or two...(or more likely create some more!)

Sounds interesting Ken!
Anyone know how I get my hands on the 1801 census? Is it available on disk, and is it countrywide or are there loads of gaps!  Think I have got back to 1845, just waiting for the certificates which take an age! :'(

The earliest "proper" census is apparently the 1841, I think prior to that they were pretty much a head count

I have three websites that supply census data if you are interested Doris  :)

I have the  electoral roll list for the UK 2001. At last I've managed to contact my fathers sister (yes, my aunt) who 'got lost' in the 70's.

At the present moment I have 28 different lines (including my wife`s) stalled at 1837 (when registration of births, marriages & deaths was introduced). If anybody has the 1841 census for Staffordshire, Lancashire, Norfolk, Durham or Northumberland I should be grateful for any assistance.

Hang-fire, Hugh. Some of my research has just arrived, the rest should be here by the week-end, all being well. I know there's quite a bundle of old Parish records and such among it from before official doc's were made. When I get it all filed and sorted I'll post back on here.

 :( :(

I have run out of ancestors.  I started my research around 1987 and gave it up about 2 years ago.  It was great fun and very addictive but then I was doing it before there was internet access to the records.  I enjoyed browsing over the original records mind and think a lot of that is lost with access on line.

Good luck to you all pursuing this hobby.  If anyone is interested in Scottish ancestors, I have the 1881 Census in the house, I can also offer any advice on researching ancestors in Scotland.

;D ;D

Addictive is is, Carol. I got some new stuff through the post today and have managed to go back through Parish records to 1780...got to double check some of it yet. Anyone want a UK ( and West Europe) ancestor check give me a shout.
