Pictures of the new girls, they managed to avoid the cous cous lorry (4 out of 250).  About 36 weeks old and apparently laying up to 5 eggs a day on the 'super food'. ???

omg is that what state people let chickens get into?  :'(

they look like they are enjoying their new home, just wish i could have chickens too.

so glad you rescued them, wish I could have some. :(

And people still buy eggs from battery hens they should be ashamed of themselves

They look good compared to some i've seen posted before. 5 A DAY no wonder they want rid of them after 36 weeks. They'll think they have died and gone to heaven, nice one.

I love my chickens !

I also love your garden - can I have it please?

Chickens are real little characters - It is heartbreaking to see the state they get in!  But lots of TLC and they will be looking great!

We were told a few days the posting (by the donor) that they are a year old, and in battery conditions it was normal for that age  :-X.  We gave two of the four girls to a friend's son as first hens and he is brilliant with them.

Since we have had them, allowing for settling-in time, we are up by six eggs per day.  My mind boggles when I see them but they are settled in with the others and just getting the hang of scraps, space and us.
