put something quick growing like radishes or even beetroot in the gaps between my garlic cos the garlic will take a long time to grow and i am very limited for space?

yes you can, lettuce too.

That's cool, I'm fairly new to veggie growing and never thought of that.  I know where my salad's going to grow now  ;D

Good idea, although I guess it would make weeding more difficult. On the other hand maybe it would smother the weeds? Haven't grown beetroot before this year, but wouldn't that be a bit big?

I see no reason why not but I think you would have to cloche them............having said that!! in my opinion winter is not over yet!!

In fact some of the really heavy snow falls in the past occurred in APRIL and we are not there yet!!  ;)

i like to pick my beetroot when its quite small, i havent even sown them yet and i always start them off indoors, i was thinking for end of april for them to go out

I've onion sets growing in window boxes. Could I also plant lettuce, cabbage, sprouts etc in between the bulbs?

It would have to be a very big window box or a very small sprout plant!

Lettuces should be ok especially if you go for small ones or a cut and come again variety, but you should try and avoid shading the onions.

Thanks, I'm really restricted for space, all growing in buckets, grow bags and window boxes. I need to make the most use from what I have, I have lettuce and peas that I'll try.

Dwarf Curly Kale might be ok in a bucket

For planting between garlic I would say that radishes are fine but not the beetroot.

Radishes are small by comparison and will be harvestable within 2 months or so from sowing whereas the beet will take much longer and the result will be one massive weed patch with poorly crops between.
