I;ve got a leg of lamb for new years day and about 6people in all to feed

So dont just want to do a roast dinner, i am a pretty good cook so want to do something different

I would ideally like to serve the roast lamb sliced up with a number of different side dishes with a start/desert.  All i know that i am going to include is humous

Can anyone think of anything else i can do?

Kebabs - with a good Mediterranean marinade?

These are minced, but I would do chunks.

pigeonseed

These are some I use from Claudia Roden's book a new book of middle eastern food.

fistuqia
with a tin of broad beans or frozen ones - broad beans with yoghurt. beat an egg into yoghurt so it doesnt curdle when cooked, pour into a pan with beans. add 3-4 tbspns cooked rice, 2 cloves crushed garlic, salt and pepper, simmer gently, stirring, for abt 10 mins.

spicy potatoes might be nice too.

some of the middle eastern salads might be nice. but my baby's screaming now - so i'll leave you to look them up!

hope it goes well

Check out the BBC Good Food web site. I can spend so long browsing through it that I haven't got time to cook anything! And you can read other users reviews of recipes - either to tell you how well they worked (or didn't) or any variations that people have done. It's a mine of useful information - a bit like here really!
