Allotments 4 All

Came across these while browsing.  (as you do).  Might give them a go in my greenhouse.  It is too cold for melons up north but these apparently taste similar,  just smaller that is all.

got one of these this year, from lidl, think it was about 2.00, grew in the fruit cage, had 3 fruit, they never got to ripen as the slugs ate great holes in them, still have 2 fruit, surviving at the moment, don't know if they will ripen, or if I can pick them and ripen inside  :)
might bring it into the poly next year, instead of the cape gooseberries

I got one growing in the greenhouse,produced well but i am not shocked by the taste.I found it a little bit bland,i prefer a melon.

have a go ... you're only wasting 2 quid or so.
I've tried them ... I bought a plant, not seeds ... it died.  I just couldn't cosset it enough.  Actually, anything that needs that much cosseting, doesn't get grown in my garden !

You might be interested in this one - a melon shaped like a cucumber rather than a cucumber shaped like a melon  :)

Yes, I have grown Pepinos for the last two years, with only a few fruits to show for my trouble. There is no problem getting then to grow or to flower, but there is a problem getting them to set fruit early in the season. They seem to have a narrow temperature range for setting fruit, even with hand pollination.
