Our M&S store now has price reductions on some food items with a sell by date of that particular day - mostly fruit and vegetables.  Got some nice Clemantines last week - reduced from £1.99 to £1.00, also Aberdeen Angus beefburgers reduced from £2.50 to £1.00.  Reductions seem to be from about 3pm

Hi

Two in one bargain - Got a potted organic apple mint plant  from Asda the other week  for 78p which I ate a bit of and then planted on the plot and its doing real well - can't say the same for the basil though - think the rain stopped play there.

Some of my best cooked meat buys are from Morrison's. Get there about fifteen minutes before closing and go to the roasting counter. All the unsold roasts are reduced and they keep reducing them till they are gone. I have been known to stand there waiting for them to reduce them further before I buy them. Two roast chickens a roast belly pork and some ribs for less than a fiver is my best to date.

24 pheasants & 8 French partridges free on Sunday.
One of the farms in the village rears them & has people who pay a fortune to spend the day shooting them but then refuse to take them away & eat them so there is always lots of game birds going spare.

And thereby hangs another controversial thread.

Consuming a byproduct of the shooting industry - thereby saving the life of another, and animals that have had a lovely life. And I still maintain that if given the choice, which is pretty unlikely, but if I was, I'd rather come back as a pheasant living the way they do than one of Bernard Mathew's turkeys...
