Is that in THE Shambles, in York? I think a lot of people would be surprised to know that the number of homeless people in York is higher than the national average.

GREENWIZARD

Part of the reason is that it's on a main train line so people get off thinking it looks like a nice place, then find they can't afford to live there.

GREENWIZARD

ok i see
kinda sad really no doubt they were full of hope before they alighted at york station

it is indeed a lovely place

We actually visited the shambles about four weeks ago, and yes we did see some homeless people but then over the years I tend to think we see more and more wherever.

Thirty years ago I used to spend most weekends in York as my bf of the time was at York Uni and my recent visit did see changes but only changes that we see elsewhere that represent a changing world.

A thoughtful image GW!

I read a statistic which made me think last week- it only takes four weeks for a homeless person to "get used" to life on the street- after that it gets harder and harder for them to re-adapt.

thanks H :)
