To have your work appreciated.

My customers son is getting married tomorrow and they are having the reception in the garden,marquee,

Lots of activity in the last few days and today I have edged every border to within an inch of it's life.Doing this while having the equivalent of cold buckets of water thrown at you is quite good for me.

Anyway the bride to be came over and thanked me for making the garden so lovely for her wedding day.

I could have hugged her.I know I get paid to do it,but it gave me a real sense of satisfaction with my work.A good feeling.

Anybody else get abuzz just out of someone noticing and saying thanks.?

If I ever get a compliment, I shall ask them if they could note it down on the back of a ten pound note. ;D

Quite agree Betula to get thanks or a compliment for whatever you have done be it paid or unpaid work is certainly a nice buzz. Hope the sun shines for the happy couple.

Well done Betula - bet that felt great.  Well done on a good job.

My mum always says people think too little of themselves and their achievements:  that if 100 people were in a room, 99 people say something positive and 1 person says something negative, the chances are it will be the negative comment you remember.

Glad for you Betula - it doesn't happen often enough. 

Try taking 20 Scouts on camp (leaders are volunteers with their own lives and children)  On the last day, you will be packing up whilst the parents hang around impatiently watching and complaining that you are not ready at the exact time you told them that you hoped you would be - not one offers to help!  You will then break camp and they will take their darlings home. Out of that 20 - one or two parents will say thank you!  It ain't the kids I tell you!

As you were working in the pouring rain to get the garden 'extra' nice then its a well deserved thanks Betula.  ;D
