Do dwarf french beans need support. I have one stem with a couple of leaves at the moment~they have been in the ground for a week and were started indoors! If they do what would you reccommend as a means of supporting them.

My packet says support with twigs on windy sites :)

Have given up on growing dwarf french beans.  They tend to be very short and curly.  Much prefer climbing french beans.

Climbers for me all the way, but cheap pea sticks for support of Dwarves..  ???

Barnowl

Dwarf tend to produce sooner than climbers - Ferrari are particularly quick and give nice string beans. Trying Purple Teepee -the beans are meant to grow above the plant thus avoiding the 'trailing on the ground' problem.

Rhubarb Thrasher

as Barnowl says they tend to be quicker. I sow for an early crop and a very late crop. The ones i've got - Opera - don't need support.

I plant quite close and find they support themselves....
If it's not pouring with rain, I'm either in the garden or at the lottie! Probably still there in the rain as well TBH....🥴

There was a thread about this earlier... You need to earth them up in the same way as spuds.

ive earthed mine up as for spuds but they coudlnt compete against the winds, so got some sticks off a handy nearby tree (on the floor, im a good girl) and proped them up on those, theyre flowering now so fingers crossed :) bibs n braces...
