My early onward peas have so far grown to 4 foot tall and still getting bigger.

There are loads of pea pods and many many more flowers.

I'm not complaining at all as they are doing great, just wondered if this is normal.

The wind brought mine back under control the other day, they were supposed to be 3' but turned out to be 5'.... now back to 3'  and mauled by pigeons :(

Our pea season is almost over already. Once hot weather hits- kaput!
But, the sugar snap peas were tasty while they lasted.

Some of my Purple-podded Peas have reached six feet, but that's a tall pea anyway. Twice the official height does seem a bit out of the ordinary; you're obviously doing something right.

I'm jealous, the snails got mine!!!!!!!!!!  Had to start again :(

I'm growing Early Onward in containers and they're about 2' high.

I've had my first pickings for tea tonight. Delicious  ;D

Heres a quick photo from about a week ago.  Not the best angle I'll try and et a better one later.

Peas are on left next to potatoes

I had to prop these up with larger sticks.

new idea for companion planting, peas like potatoes  ;D

Yours are further ahead than mine; I only noticed the first pods yesterday.

Chris Graham

Measured them at 4 and a half foot tall.

Wind has blown a section down as the twiggy sticks were not long enough.

Manics, about how far apart would they need to be from the potatoes, please? I hadn't heard of that combo.

Mine were getting tall too (Sugar Snap variety of which escapes me).

I just folded them over on themselves a bit as I had nothing to support them with.

I'll make sure I'm more prepared next year.

Lost-The-Plot

I have grown Early Onwards for the first time this year - in pots and read that they only grow to 2 feet, Ours are about 3 foot six - four feet now and still gowing strong with lots of flowers and peas. Didn't water them enough though, so the pods are large but the peas inside quite small. Very sweet and tasty all the same! :D
