these are pictures of our kestrel bed and our desiree bed, anyone else have such a lot of seed potatoes die off, never even showed their heads,
all the rest are going great guns and we're already eating the first earlies from outside,
was there a problem with the seed this year ?

Not sure about problem seed. Mine have all come up ok, got them from Wyevale this year. Have you had a firkle to see if the seed spud is still there?
I was born with nothing and have most of it left.

put my finger through a couple so I've re-planted with another type

Should you be a moan to where you bought them from? Depending on how many didn't grow.

trouble is, it's the allotment shop, they already sell them cheaply so, don't want to cause trouble for them, will ask around the other plot holders who bought from there  :)

Ah yes, I understand that, good luck with your next lot though :D

Well surely if you got them cheap then just plant a few more than you think you will need next time and you will be quids in.
Your glass will then be half full not half empty :)

I've had similar problems before. Given the delays delivering my pots this year, I'll be furious if I have a load of gaps!

but the gaps could be filled by neighbouring spuds - sort of lose some win some  :)

Desiree from our allotment shop are coming along well, as are the first and second earlies and the Pink Fir Apple.  Leaves are slightly burned by wind or late frost, but otherwise they are all fine.  No comfort to you!
