Whats the advantage/disadvantage of a polytunnel over a greenhouse?
:-\   I'm thinking of getting one or the other due to short season on my high, windy allotment, but I'm not sure which would best.  I don't grow a lot of 'exotics', but nedd somewhere for tomatoes, sweetcorn, and for starting off seedlings. 
After a year under my belt on the digging front, I realise that crops are going to need a bit more tlc than they've been getting.

Have had both, and have to say, so far this year I LOVE my poly. It is only small, but built to accomodate the space available, so therefore is wider than my old greenhouse.
Have at the mo Lettuce, peas, potaotes all ready, this never happened in the greenhouse.
Also have toms and aubs in already, cos of the width of the beds I can grow more, it is also better designed upwards so i have more headroom!
others will differ with me I am sure! ;D

got a greenhouse at home and a poly on the allotment, I could do without my greenhouse but I LOVE MY POLY as well  ;D

Like you, i'm in a very windy position. I would dread putting a greenhouse up at this altitude, but I wouldn't be without my poly. Infact I'm about to build another out of water pipe and scaffold tubes. They are so much taller at the apex. Because of my altitude, I have to grow my sweetcorn in it.
I don't have borders in mine, so I can place the gro bags where i like. My apex is a good 8' so the corn grows well. Only disadvantage is poking bean poles through accidentally when supporting the ole' toms. The plus is, no glass to break or fall out.

we stick corks on the end of our canes, saves ripping the skin  ;D

A greenhouse would have to be my choice although I appreciate the cost/size issue  you get with a tunnel, i.e. cheaper per square foot.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys, its good to hear what others have found useful. I'm investigating the poly option at the moment, on a size v cost basis.

We bought our polytunnel from First Tunnel in Barrowford, Lancashire.  They were very good with information on what we needed.  And we have had ours for one year.  I am very pleased with it.
