My Hostas have been chewed to buggery  :o and slug pellets were used and not a slug in sight but I found an insect what best described looks like a stealth bomber ¼inch across and light green in colour, not sure if he’s a goody or a baddy was going to show an image of him but he was camera shy, any ides? Oh! And a few of my sunflowers have been stripped too. ::)
Also I believe they can spray an awful smell as I caught my Grandson playing with one and I wouldn’t let him in my car until he had a thorough scrubbing. :P

Would you believe it, ::) I just caught the tail end of Monty Don talking about these blessed bugs on Gardeners World he said they were called shield bugs and there is another of the same species but lime green and we should kill em dead. :o Maybe that was the cause of all the damage then? ??? How do I kill em without getting the smell on me arrrgh! :P
I must try Google and see if I can find out more.
Roy ;D

On the floor and under your heel at speed I think.  Great, cos we need more bugs to keep us on our toes!  >:(

The day that I saw one of these on my runner beans I read the news that the Stink Bug has decided to pay a visit to the UK.  You might find the following link handy as it has a picture.  The stinky version is similar to an existing group of UK insects called shield bugs.

Like yours, mine disappeared once I went to get my camera.  Although a pest, he doesn't seem to have done much damage.  Actually he looked quite impressive.

Hello, Roy  :)
I found a GREY shield bug which had landed in an old tub full of water in the garden. I'd never seen one before, but recognised it from Monty's talk on G.W.
Have you finished your water feature yet? You could use it to drown a few shield bugs!  ;)
