Hello everyone, I am very new to all of this and it is my first time trying to grow anything decent!  I know this is probably a daft question to all the experienced people on here, but I have just put some strawberry plants in hanging baskets (as I was told they will grow well there!) and there is a very cold spell due here on Sunday and Monday.  Can I leave them out or not?  Any advice is much appreciated.

hiya, gonz.welcome to the site..depends on how cold it gets, I think they'll be okay as long as the roots don't freeze  ;D

Hi and welcome to the madhouse Gonz ;D ;D

I f you're worried about them, bring them in overnight. Strawbs in the ground are very hardy and tolerate most winters well. I have mine in window boxes, so they will have to take they're chances outside ;)
I was born with nothing and have most of it left.

They gre outside quite happily in the North of Scotland 20 years ago (when I was a lad) - and it was bl00dy cold!

My strawberrys are in containers and are left outside all the time and this is the second year that they are surviving.  Winters here go to about -5 sometimes and mine always are fine.
