Allotments 4 All

My potatoes have been chittin on my windowsill  for some some now, they have little sprouts coming out, but are beginning to get wrinkly, should I plant them now or can I leave them a bit longer.

It's not desperate they go in now... the seed tuber is used up to make the shoot so they will get wrinkly... when they are in the ground you can't see it!

I've got my three varieties in the salad compartment of the fridge because my beds won't be ready for another few weeks. Will they be ok?

The spares I have in my fridge have grown really long translucent shoots.  I think they have to be picked off before planting, but not sure!
The ones in the light have some lovely dark shoots on them, but they are getting a bit long!
I need to plant them soon I think :)

You don't have to remove the pale ones - if you take care planting.

Has anyone planted and tried rooster?

ours are in the ground, we've also got rooster from wilkies, they're in the ground as well, all covered with fleece, £1.00 from the pound shop  ;D

Just sown my earlies today.   The free Vales Emerald, and I am trying a new early this year - Nadine.   (Never heard of them but I had missed the boat to get the varieties I wanted. :-[)   

My Verity and Desiree late spuds will go in the ground in 3-4 weeks.

Do I need to cover them in fleece then?  oops.. see learn something new everyday.
