We went around to check The OH's chillie seeds and see if he had any coming up today after shopping....He was thrilled to bits to see quite a few seedlings beginning to break the compost in the trays....fingers crossed they continue to grow on :D

Sorry slight change of subject but do any of you guys have produce shows near you? and would you enter anything if you have?
We have a craft and produce show here and last year I entered some needlework and photos, this year if all goes well I might have a go at entering some veggies. :)

caseylee

not that I know of, I don't think I am even close to that standard at the mo lol, I will be happy to grow one carrot at the moment lol

Our produce show, some of the categories where immaculate but then, some of the entries were not so spectacular and still did well.  I have an apple tree and one of the classes was apples, as I walked round I thought I should have brought mine in LOL
Don't put yourself down, when you see shows on the telly, you can tell people take it extremely seriously, I think our show is more for fun although there may be a few that disagree  :)

YAY! my polytunnel greenhouses arrived this morning :D Also the OH missed a delivery late last week which must have been my compost bins so I need to arrange for them to be redelivered.....all I need now is a shed and I'm sorted :)

gardening-gal

Fluffnco, if you don't mind me asking, how much did your polytunnel cost and where did you get it from?

Fluffnco

I'll Im you a link to the people I bought them off.....2 for 1 and they look pretty sturdy too for the money :)

Being cheeky here, but could you let me in on it too, please Fluff?  I need more "glass" to grow things under.

What do I mean more?  I currently have a roofless lottie greenhouse, and a more or less glassless garden one.  :'(

Fluffnco

have im'ed you link denbee....sorry to hear about your greenhouses :( wind has decimated a lot of peoples greenhouses and/or sheds

DenBee

Thank you, Fluff.  :)

The glass did make a pretty tinkling noise as it broke, though.  I could hear it while sitting here in the study at the pc.  ::)

probably fortunate I haven't been able to put anything on mine then :( How many panes of glass did you lose?

DenBee

About half of them.  It was only a 4' x 6' greenhouse, but the loss of the first panes meant that it lost any rigidity, and then the wind blew it against the shelves which were inside, which broke some more glass.

OH dismantled it because a couple of bits of aluminium got twisted, so it's tucked away in a corner of the garden for the minute.  I've not sown anything yet, but I'm preparing the conservatory for use - so far I've got a 4-tier mini greenhouse (minus cover) set up in there.  And luckily I cleared the windowsills the other week, because they're going to come in very handy.  :)
