Hello :)

does anyone have any helibore seedlings that they would like to swap for some strawberry runners? I was watching a grdening program that said they self seed, so I was hoping someone had some popping up.

I dont know  what  types the strawberries are, but I have either white or pink flowered ones .

Thanks

cj :)

Mine seem to be really behaved, not a seedling in sight. :(
I was born with nothing and have most of it left.

carolinej

Thanks for looking, star ;D

I hope you didnt get too wet!!

They always talk about seedlings of helibores on these gardening programmes but mine never seem to produce any.   :(

My neighbour has a helibore just outside my gate and I have been watching for seedling for the past two years and was going to beg for a couple.... But not one insight. Perhaps there are some that don't have babies  :'(

Ah well. Looks like I will remain heliboreless :(

I could spare a couple of last year's seedlings, but I forget which species they are. My standard hybrids have never self-set at all.

Eristic

I'm sure I can get you some of mixed parentage if you want but it will take me a week or two to get round to digging them up.

Robert_Brenchley and  Eristic,

thanks both . Will pm you.

It turns out they're Helleborus argutifolium. Someone on the site sent me a few seeds a couple of years back; I can't rememvber who it was, but I'm quite glad to share them out. The'll be coming in an old rat poison container, so don't be alarmed when it arrives!

carolinej

Thanks Robert ;D Well, I've never had a delivery wrapped up in a rat poison container before!

I couldnt get to the lottie today, so will get your runners tomorrow and pop them in the post.

Thanks again

I picked up the strawberries from the parcels office first thing, thanks. I'll get them potted up tomorrow.

carolinej

Hope they grow well for you, and you have LOADS of strawberries ;D

Give them time. I'll be growing them on for a year, and then we'll see.
