Today I received my bag of seed pots from good old Mr Fothergill.

I have serious doubt regarding the claims made that these spuds will develop by Christmas.

Has anyone tried planting ou in early August? What was the outcome.

Many thanks

My mum's garden centre still had seed spuds for sale in June/July, so I managed to get hold of a handful. Carlingford is one of the varieties and I am going to have a go at it (though in a big "grow bag" thing). One bloke at my allotment site has cleared most of his spuds, but has already prepared the ground for a ton (nearly!) of second cropping spuds to go in (from Marshalls I think, as we get 10% off through our little society).
