Hello there!
I am designing a shed for an allotment for a first year project. I study Interior Architecture at Nottingham Trent University. From my research it is obvious people take great care and pride in their allotments, our aim is to create a space within this environment where you can do anything from storing equipment to working, relaxing and even sleeping. This questionnaire has been created to get a better idea of what you, the client, requires.
I would appreciate it if you could take the time to fill in this short questionnaire and maybe even pass it on to your friends. Please feel free to add any comments, your input would be fantastic. Thank you, Emma! xXx :0)

1.   Do you have an allotment? (If no, go to question 7)

2.   If so, how much time a week do you spend at your allotment?

3.   Ideally how much time would you like to spend at your allotment?

4.   What do you mainly use your allotment for?
•   Growing crops for a business
•   Growing crops for personal use
•   Exercise
•   Time away from the ‘missus’ (or ‘mister’)
•   For peace and quiet/relaxation
•   General hobby
•   Other (please specify) ….

5.   Do you keep animals at your allotment?

6.   If you do keep animals, or would like to, what kind?

7.   Do you have a shed?

8.   If not would you like a shed?

9.   What is your shed made of?

10.   Did you buy your shed flat packed or did you build it yourself?

11.   What would you keep in the shed? (e.g. Tools, animals, seeds, plant pots, etc)

12.   If there was a bed in your shed would you use it?

13.   Ideally, what other utilities would you like in your shed (e.g. Electrical point, heater, kettle, toilet, sink, games console, TV, etc. )

Please email all replies to emma.farren@students.ntu.ac.uk

Thank you for your time!!

I think a lot of allotment holders make a point of trying to recycle as much as possible and take pride in a shed that is completely constructed of bits of other sheds, old windows etc. so not sure there' d be much demand for designer sheds, but you never know!
I think you might get more people answering your (not that short) questionnaire if you did it as an online form with space for answers, if you've got a means of doing that. It's a bit cumbersome having to scroll up 7 down to look at each question & then write an answer. Sorry to be negative but...

I agree ive built a shed from pallets 8ft x 10ft, concrete floor double glazed, felt roof, just require a wind turbine which i may construct myself as they are very easy to build :-\, i have 3 lorry batterys for storage & if & when i do this, then its beer fridge & tv, bed then its my mini hide away!!.

but knowing me i wont have time so i will just keep it for storage for now.

if you want some plans i have some for a 8ft x 8ft pitched roof
today i will be growin veg!!

I liked a shed I saw on telly that had a false back wall behind which nestled all the tools.

I suggest a bit of cutting and pasting....that's what I did. 8)

Mr Smith

I will be building a shed this weekend I've priced the timber up for £70 but I have found a pallet suply locally so I will be paying him a visit to see if he can supply some scrap pallets, :)

mr smith,

go and see a fabrication firm up snowhill ind est they back on to the co-op in town (if they are still there) "turners" i think?? & ask for the pallets that they have sheet steel deliverd on as the wood from them is 3 x 2 at 2400mm long make good bases or corner uprights for a shed
today i will be growin veg!!
