Thanks, The Lettuce is called "Wonder der vier jaartijden" or "Wonder of four years time" in english. I order from a Dutch seed catalogue, so I don't know if you can get it where you are.

Ps I would avoid 'seedfest' if it pops up in google - a number of bad experiences have been mentioned elsewhere on this site.

It also looks similar to lettuce sativa from Lidl.....lovely sweet lettuce. I grew mine in summer though

Great pic and great looking lettuce.

I see the leaves have a red tinge - I've noticed with lettuce varieties I've grown that all the ones with red tinged leaves seem tougher, less likely to bolt, less fussy about temperature of germination. Anyone else spotted this or have an explanation (scientific or otherwise?)

I'm no agric or Bio Chemist but I think the temperature has something to do with the chemicals... which is why ornamental cabbage look really good in the cold. Purple Cape is a great overwinter cauli..
