read through the seed catalogues again and decide which varieties I would like for next year - I calculated that I would be spending about £50 on seeds and sets for next year - I want 5 varieties of carrots - white, red, yellow, multicoloured.....

Mrs Ava

I really fancy growing different coloured things next year MV.  I have grown purple caulis this year and purple beans, and the look great - shame they go back to green when cooked though.  Ina and Tim have inspired me to try the different coloured beetroots, and the bright light chard has looked so punk like on the plot, I am definately going to grow lots more of that next year.

When it rains and the kids are on their summer hols, I get the art box out!  ;D

Other half took the children out for a run yesterday and I spent the whole time pouring over the sed catalogues. It's such fun planning next years endeavours!
I would like to grow lots of different types of squashes - they have some really interesting shapes.
And I want to grow some french beans for drying - rather like the borlotti type in the red-speckled pods.
50 quid on seeds Multiveg! - that makes me feel a lot better about my extravagances. I'm thinking of getting some fruit trees this autumn - and it's going to be hard not to spend a fortune.

We grew those purple beans one year (when we had a plot in Leeds - very fertile, but nightmare heavy soil and mad mares-tail). We also grew Romanesco broccoli - now that was really beautiful - like an Escher painting if you know what I mean?

Sarah.
